DescriptionWater wolves are one of the very few species that has adapted and gained a special feature, which is their long tadpole like tail. Water wolves are known for their kind and gentle nature, they do not seek for fights, they are one of the few species that is labelled as neutral; usually those of water wolf species never pick sides, whether good or bad. The biggest living pack of this species live around a sacred place believed to be the home of the ancient water dragon. They can survive for approximately 5 hours underwater without going up to the surface for air. They mainly prefer to be in the water as their diet mainly consists of fish and lake weeds; as their long tail will help them gain a lot of speed underwater, helping them catch their food. Water wolves have lots of muscles in their tail, however they move slowly on land, but their tail can be used as a deadly weapon. When a part of their white fin is missing, it can actually regrow, if the top of their tail would be missing it cannot. Water wolves are also known to be among the only two species in Delv Ihoo that doesn't give live birth. In general wolves of this species will prefer lakes over the sea, as many are to afraid to venture in the sea, due to the fear of never finding their home again. As wolves have disappeared before.
AppearanceBoth male and female have a light blue pelt with white socks and they both have their long tadpole like tail. There is a way to tell the gender difference, as the males have a white chest which leads to their underbelly and ends at the beginning of their tail. When symbolized the shape of their fin at the end of their tail can take a different shape or grow extra fins.
HabitatWater wolves will always prefer lakes over any other place, they will not live in an area unless it has lakes, or rivers, the reason being is that their diet that consists mostly of fish and lake weeds, as their tails will easily hinder them or slow them down during a hunt on land. They also feel more relaxed and calm with water around, as most water wolves swim daily.

Dragon Goddess Lamuria
Lamuria is one of Seiyru and Seiryu’s children, and the dragon responsible for the existence of the water specie.
Lamuria is known as a wise and proud dragon but unlike her sister(Asteria), she is a lot more aggressive. She has been known to slither her way around the rules and laws that were set by her parents in order to harm wolves. Although as told in her tongue, she would only do this in dire need. If the Otoma pack is approached with respect by wolves of a different specie, she will gently remain in her slumber. Among the wolves of the Otoma pack she is known as a gentle giant. She loves to speak in riddles but is usually not so good in it. Among all dragons she is the most common one to spot, as she will join the Otoma pack for a successful fish hunt and for the feast. Lamuria is picky from nature, she doesn't trust many wolves outside of the Otoma pack but if the wolf can prove itself she is willing to provide them with a chance. Lamuria is more awake than her siblings who tend to slumber to connect to the Dragon Paradise. Lamuria has always had a big mouth and didn't fully approve of all the laws set by her parents as this makes them mostly unable to defend themselves against wolves who mean harm to them. |
Reproduction
Both male and female water wolves become sexually mature around the age of 18, though it has been known to happen earlier as well. They strictly follow a breeding season which starts in January and ends late April. Some wolves do choose to breed out of season but for wolves of the water species this is extremely unlikely. Unlike most wolf species on Delv Ihoo, the water wolves are among the only out of two species to not give live birth. While the progress to become pregnant remains the same, it is believed the one and only trait of a frog seen in their dragon Goddess, might be the cause for their rather unusual way of reproducing. Female water wolves will lay a cluster of eggs on the surface of a lake only 10 days after mating. These fertilized eggs are covered with gelatinous material, because of this the egg is transparent and can be seen through, as the embryo of the wolf is developing. One of the main reasons while females will typically choose to lay eggs, is due to the cluster being on top of the lake. The gelatinous material needs air just as it needs water to function the way it normally would within a female wolf. In such a way it almost seems to serve as an incubation chamber. To feed the cluster a water wolf will regurgitate lake weeds which in return the gelatinous material will absorb to provide the nutrients needed. Due to the cluster being on top of a surface, predatory animals can be a threat. Females and males will take turns guarding the babies day and night from above and underwater. By having all the eggs together, chances of survival for all the pups increases. As the clusters will always be surrounded by empty eggs as well as extra protection. Within the cluster the pups will grown for as long as it normally takes for a wolf to give birth in Delv Ihoo. Once the pups are developed enough the parents will remove them from the cluster and take them into their own den. further raising will happen in here as the pups do not require water anymore to develop.
