Summoning Spirits
Summoning Spirits in AzureHowl belong to summoners. These wolves, or possibly other creatures with knowledge of summoning spirits, are born with a companion spirit that allows them to understand and form pacts with other summoning spirits. So far such spirits have only been seen belonging to Seth and Cobor. Sommonings can also occur in different forms such as aiding or protecting and even attacking. Those are usually obtained by forming a pact with such a spirit.
Information
Summoning Spirits are unique beings that live in their own dimension known as the “Summoning World.” It was only after the wolf specie started developing, due to the children of the Azure Dragons, that the Summoning Spirits began to appear to serve the wolves and any other creature with knowledge of them. It is believed that a Summoning Spirit who was known as a god in the Summoning World was wounded and looked for help in another world. Upon arriving in Delv Ihoo, the Summoning Spirit was healed and treated well by the Psychic Wolves of the time. When the Spirit was healed, he was extremely fond of the world that healed him. To show his gratitude as he was leaving, he left a mark on this world which made it possible for Summoning Spirits to stay in and become a part of the world. Some of the Summoning Spirits even came to Delv Ihoo on purpose, wanting to stay and live there. Aside from this, wolves and other creatures, were given the possibility of forming pacts with them so long as they were born with a summoning companion by their side. They could only be born with this companion due to their parent’s knowledge. The reason this was needed was because they gained special powers through the summoner, allowing them to not only understand Summoning Spirits, but also to form pacts with others. Knowledge of Summoning Spirits were usually transferred to other beings by the Dragons,
Gods, or other dragon-like creatures that lived back in the day. Once this information was passed down, the wolves would continue to pass it down within their packs to make sure that the knowledge wouldn’t be lost. The Dark Cities were well known for containing many Summoners. Other packs have been known to contain Summoners as well, but not on as large of a scale as the Dark Cities. Summoning Spirits were used for all kinds of purposes, some being defensive or aiding, while others being used to aid their master in a fight, or even used to hunt other animals. It all depended on what animal their Summoning Spirit was. Their importance was also to create a possible new generation of Summoners since Summoning Spirits can track down “Black Opal” stones. But through time this knowledge was lost. With the downfall of the Dark Cities, the knowledge of the Summoning Spirits was slowly disappearing, making the offspring and survivors of the Dark Cities some of the last who actually still have a Summoning Spirit. Other than these spirits you also have those that can only be obtained by forming a pact. These spirits in return will aid their master in battle or other needs. Appearance wise, only the "companions" resemble their masters specie in most cases. Some gaining markings similar to that of their summoner and other more like the elemental specie. Aside from that other types of summoning's can vary greatly appearance wise but some tend to resemble the element(wolf specie) they are.
Summoning species
There are 3 different species the most common one being the Earthly species.
1. Earthly spirits: These spirits are the most common ones. They live in the summoning world and, like the other species, every element can be found in this species.
2.Heavenly spirits: Heavenly Spirits are extremely rare and barely ever seen. Although pacts can be formed with them, wolves have not been known to be born with a summoning companion of this species. These spirits remain in an alternate universe known as heaven. They are said to always feature wings.
3.Hellish spirits: Hellish Spirits are extremely rare and barely ever seen. Although pacts can be formed with them, wolves have not been known to be born with a summoning companion of this species. These spirits remain in an alternate universe known as hell. They are said to always feature horns or a unique tail.

Summoning types
Companions => Companion Summoning's are unique as they can only be born together with their master from birth. The birth of this spirit would tie the Summoner and his companion together for the rest of their lives together. Only death will separate them as a Summoning Spirit can choose to die with its master or return to the summoning world to await a new master. This type of Summoning is required to form pacts with other spirits, as their birth will grant a unique power to its master which allows them to form pacts and even understand Summoning Spirits who can only talk through telepathy. Rituals have to be performed in order to form a pact with them. Although they are "born" with their master, taking on their master’s age, and somewhat their master’s appearance, they can have markings or colors referring to the animal they are, but the majority of their body will resemble their master. Tthey are a lot older as they may have existed for over a 1000 years and even could have served another master. Once they appear, they are extremely dedicated to their master and will obey every command, may it be good or bad. A Summoning Spirit can and cannot be killed, meaning that once the Summoning Spirit is killed it will vanish, but depending on what specie it is, it can be summoned back. The Earthly Spirits recover the fastest, as it only takes them around one hour to recover. Companion Spirits rarely summon themselves, only in dire need will they do so . It is unknown how one can obtain a Hellish or Heavenly spirit from this category. A summoning companion, when killed or sent away, will return to its summoning word until the Summoning companion hears a call from its master to return.

Changers => Changers are spirits that can usually only be obtained inside of caves. Upon entering a cave, a Changer will ask the summoner to accept certain trials. If the Summoner succeeds, the Changer will allow a pact to be formed. Once summoned, the Summoner will take on the form of the Changer for a short time allowing him or her to aim the attack better. After performing the attack, the summoner will turn back. This summoning needs a day of recovery to be reused and takes a lot of energy.
Attackers => Attackers are spirits that are usually bound to one location. In this location harsh weather may appear depending on their element and power. Once located, the Attacker will usually ask for a favor. If the summoner can achieve the favor asked for, the Summoning Spirit will form a pact. Once made, and when summoned, the Attacker Spirit will only appear for seconds as a spirit, allowing a quick but powerful attack to take place. This summoning does need a day to be reused.
Healers => Healers are spirits that can usually be found in forests. It is said that healers will only appear if they sense a summoner with a pure heart, making this the only spirit to actually offer a pact with another being rather than expecting certain trials or favors. Once summoned they can only be used for healing purposes.
Shifters => Shifters are spirits that can usually be found in locations that are hard to get to, such as snow storms, sand storms, and so on. Once a summoner manages to stand through these harsh conditions the Shifter will appear, allowing the summoner to form a pact with him or her. Only Shifters of the Heavenly or Hellish species will require to see inside of the Summoner's heart. If it does or doesn't like what it sees in the Summoner’s heart, the Shifter may go as far as to take away the Summoner's life. Once the pact is made, the Summoner itself has the possibility to change into the Shifter they formed a pact with, which allows their species and power to change. When done, they do lose their own power for the time being. Other than that, when this summoning is activated they will usually remain as their Shifter for 24 hours long. They do need a week of recovery.
Protectors => As the name speaks they only have one purpose and that is to protect the wolf they made a pact with. Either giving the summoners a protective skin or creating a barrier these spirits can come in quite handy when needed. As they appears they only show themselves for a brief amount of time, after that they take their leave giving the summoner the protection they can offer. If the summoner passes out or loses most of his or her energy the effects of the summoning will vanish. There is also a different type of variant from the known "protector", rather than a shield some when summoned will remain hidden in the ground or portal and only appear if a foe comes near stopping their movement.
