Matt ShizenoBackgroundMatt was traveling together with his partner Kala when they discovered Ruuza, as she was hiding in the bushes.Matt set out to look for the parents in hope that they would be nearby. When he finds them, he discovers both parents were dead. On his return, his mate realizes something is wrong, and both of them decide to take care of the little pup and treat her as if she was theirs.
Matt lived happily for nine years in the Iron woods before tragedy struck. Matt was awoken in the middle of the night due to a rather odd smell, and he quickly saw the forest was on fire. He awoke his family and they got out as fast as possible. Luckily, they escaped the burning forest. Matt decided to head out towards their homeland. On their way, they got attacked by Ladon and his followers. Matt immediately protected Ruuza, but ended up having to be saved by his own daughter. This left him with numerous questions about Ruuza's power and past.
When the group took a break in a forest on their way, they end up crossing paths with a young wolf named Mutt. Ruuza took it upon herself to take time to help him out. Matt did not like the idea of taking in Mutt, but eventually gave in to his mate’s wishes. Matt shows in several instances that he dislikes young wolves, and doesn't trust them, thinking they could be Ghost Pups as well.
On their way through the Poison Forest, Matt revealed that he has a great deal of knowledge regarding the ancient stories and the dragons, knowing even more than Kala does. He also talked about the Dark Cities, and the amount of power they could posses. After the group was attacked by two Poison wolves, Matt allowed a wolf named Takaya, who helped them out, to join their pack. Later on, it is revealed that Matt only allowed her to join because he wanted more bodyguards for his daughter. Seeing how well Mutt preformed to protect Ruuza, he decided that it wouldn't be bad to have extra strength in his group. Kala did not like this, and told him to not look at them as just protection.
When Matt arrived back home, he met up with his family. Once they had all gathered inside the pack, Matt talked to his family about the situation they were in, and how they would like to travel to the Otoma pack for more information about Ruuza. Even though Krypton warned Matt of the dangers he might face due to Ruuza, Matt still wanted to move onward, in order to avoid getting his homeland in trouble with Shadow Clans. Although Matt has mostly shown a calm or temper-full behavior, he is shown to have a funny side, as he jokes with his mom about her current state of pregnancy which left his mom rather annoyed.

Matt was a father and at one point had 3 children, who were called Fire, Leaf, and Nalyda. Tragedy struck when Matt's cousin Rose betrayed her pack and chased the pups out of well known territory. As she had sent them to their horrible fate, Rose had asked her allies to lure a bear into the pup’s path. They ran right into the beast, causing their deaths. Matt and Kala found out something was wrong, but were to late to save their children. Rex was cautious as he told both wolves about what happened, and both Matt and Kala went to hunt down two of Rose’s allies, killing them instantly. Even though they searched everywhere, Rose herself was never found. After telling the story, both parents told their adopted child that she brought back hope in their lives.
Personality
Matt is usually calm and optimistic, and he wants to guide the ones he cares for. Even so, he's mostly known for how easily he can be angered or frustrated, and how loud and aggressive he can become in his responses. He can be a bit extreme in his moods, switching rapidly between them. Aside from having a bad temper, he does have a great deal of knowledge, as he seems to know a lot about the ancient stories and dragons from the past. He is a wolf of justice, as he doesn't tolerate brutal or immoral activities.

Appearance
Matt was born looking similar to most members of his species, featuring only a few different markings such as the eye markings and the green leaf shaped marking, though he also features a slight curl-like marking on the side of his belly. However, as he aged, it became apparent that he had received genes from his Father, Terro, who was born with a color mutation. Most color mutated wolves receive the mutation at birth, but some tend to be delayed by a few days, months, and, in extreme cases, even years. Matt’s brown-green like markings changed to black overnight, which made him resemble his father in almost every way. Only the leaf on his forehead remained the same.
Abilities and Moves
Aside from basic moves, of the plant species, such as root control, tackle or bite, Matt has yet to show his unique powers. Wolves in Delv Ihoo usually try to rely on basic moves or basic special moves before they are willing to spend a large amount of energy on unique moves.

Trivia
- Matt, together with Ruuza, is one of the oldest and first designed characters of the show.
- Matt's character appeared in an older story I created called "Azure Dragon Clan", but when the story was canceled, Matt was kept for AzureHowl.
- Matt's design has changed slightly several times, for example, I removed some curls in his fur because I kept forgetting to draw them.
- Matt's name was chosen for one reason only, and that was that when playing games I, for some reason, called about every character that was male “Matt”.
- Matt originally didn't have a bad temper, but due to the voice actor I was inspired to give him a hot tempered mind.
- In the original story and first concepts of AzureHowl, Matt wasn't supposed to receive a color mutation, but it happened later when I was drawing him.
- Matt's last name was created by the word “Shizen", which is Japanese for "Nature".
