Ghost pups
The Dark Cities, a society once known for being one of the strongest packs around, was destroyed and taken down by two other large societies working together. The youngest wolves were taken away to become the slaves of the Shadow Clans. With the vanishing of the Dark Cities, for many years it seemed that this society would never return, until the arrival of the "Ghost Pups". The Ghost Pups is what the survivors of the Dark Cities are called.
History
Most of the history of the Ghost Pups and their origins can be found on the "Dark Cities" tab, which is the page dedicated to all information on this society. The Ghost Pups' history begins with the enslavement of the young survivors of the Dark Cities. When packs of the society were attacked and slaughtered, there was a huge focus on certain age groups: mainly kids from five to eight were taken while younger and older wolves were killed. Those of younger age who were placed in slave camps usually didn't last long. The main reason why they were enslaved as young wolves was to increase their submissiveness, as with older wolves there was a bigger possibility for them to become rebellious. When the slaughter began, the Shadow Clan followers would usually go for the children (which are now known by the name of "Ghost Pups"), who they would use to force parents into submission. This, sadly, was extremely effective, as no parents wanted to be responsible for the death of their own or other wolves' children. As they laid down in submission, most of them were killed without much effort, which left the pups in the paws of the Shadow Clans.
Both Hero and Shadow Clans wanted to keep the amount of survivors a mystery to the public. Having spread lies about the small amount of packs, which, naturally, would cause only few casualties, they have worked hard to keep the main public from figuring out what kind of slaughter had been going on. "Ghost Pups" is a name given by the public rather than by the Hero and Shadow Clans. This name was given to the survivors because most wolves had a hard time believing there were so many, thus calling them ghosts as their existence didn't make sense to them. Many wolves have no clue about how many packs were slaughtered, therefore deeming the Ghost Pups' existence cursed. Slave camps were often seen by passing wolves, but most ignored it. They believed the fate these young wolves got was justified, and that their kind should be punished as the Dark Cities were blamed for many crimes they didn't even commit. The wolves had to go through harsh and horrifying conditions leaving many to die from pain and abuse, mentally this affected these youngsters to the extreme, leaving them to have a deep hatred for all strangers and adults, having little faith in anyone.
All seemed lost for the young survivors of the Dark Cities, but luckily, fate was finally in their favor, even if it was only a little. A wolf named Kane was rescued by Luna, who managed to drop Kane to the only safe hideout known by the Dark Cities, which is a cave located under the desert. Even though Luna's original plan was to return, she never made it back in the end. Kane, who was with some more orphans, was the oldest teen around, and with no adults around to take care of them, he was left with many distressed orphans and scared pups. The task was going to be harsh, but Kane took it upon himself to lead this pack and become the leader of the Ghost Pups. He organized hunts and plans, and began to operate rescue missions once he managed to train the younger wolves to have more confidence. Once that plan worked, he began to attack the slave camps. Having destroyed one large slave camp and freed all the prisoners, he focused on freeing many more slaves with the help of the many new wolves and the new group leaders chosen by himself. Slave camps were secured more, which was to be expected, but Kane focused on more than that as he carefully planned out missions for the other group leaders to fulfill. It didn't take long before they began to form a serious threat, full of anger and revenge. These wolves weren't about to stop for anything. Although the packs had their own skills, they began to teach their habits to one another, resulting in deadly and strong wolves, especially for their young age. They ended up killing several commanders and well known leaders of the Shadow Clans, leaving the Shadow Clans to feel threatened by their existence.
Although the Hero Clans tried to demonize the Ghost Pups as much as they possibly can, the truth itself will always be known by the Ghost Pups themselves. The Dark Cities stood for loyalty, care, bravery, honesty, skill and much more, all traits that the Ghost Pups still admire about their parents to this very day. They want to follow these ideals and be close with one another, able to rely on one another. They worked hard to maintain it all, growing even closer to one another over their shared past, and now they are a force to be reckoned with. No wolf likes the idea of getting in trouble with them, especially because many can't judge them, not knowing how many they are. They also feel vulnerable, knowing the Ghost Pups are a pack of random species combined, making them strong and giving them the advantage most of the time. The main goal for Ghost Pups is to take revenge without letting their emotions take over, and so they are trained to fight skillfully rather than emotionally based. Even though it is known how they came to exist, many do not know their goals, as aside from freeing the enslaved survivors, the Ghost Pups seem to be interested in the Azure Wolf.
Slave camps and experiments
In episode 5, it is shown that Kane is observing some sort of structure in the distance. This structure is the last and largest remaining slave camp. Heavily guarded wolves are used around it for all sort of causes. What purpose the Shadow Clans have with these slave camps still remains a mystery, but even so, the Shadow Clans are losing their slaves, forcing them to even enslave wolves that are passing by. Many young wolves from the Dark Cities died in the slave camps due to harsh treatment and abuse. Sometimes, though, it could be even worse, as many deaths were the results of extreme testing or torture, as some guards didn't abuse for testing but also for the fun of it. Young wolves would be put to tests for survival and not many made it through alive. Especially wolves related to leaders got a rough time. As shown in episode 6, Kaitou has a nightmare showing he's not in the best condition and even being whipped. With the stand up of the Ghost Pups, they hope to shut down the slave camps for good. Slave camps are maintained by the Shadow Clans, which is the reason why the main public stays out of it, believing it's better to ignore it than to get involved. This left many young pups with a deep hatred for strangers.
Hidden hideout in the desert
In episode 5, a first look is given on the Ghost Pups and their hideout. When the slaughter began, most adults brought their children over there, including Kane who was brought there by Luna. Unfortunately, those adults went back, hoping to inform younger wolves about the base, which resulted in no adults making it back. The oldest being teens in the base were around 15 years old. Although they had lost everything, this very cave hidden underneath the desert became their sanctuary. No wolf aside from the Ghost Pups themselves have ever been able to locate this area, as it is well hidden and the entrance well built. This has been their sanctuary for years, coming with good and bad sides. On one hand, they could train and sleep without worries, but on the other hand, they were forced to live in the shadows. The cave was unique, though. Once a hideout for cave dragons, unique plants and trees existed, creating a whole new world inside of this cave, with its very own vegetation that didn't need light to survive. To make life more pleasant, cosmic wolves used their special dust to create stars, lighting up their cave. The Ghost Pups dreamed to once live out in the open again, but for now they couldn't wish for a better sanctuary than this cave, given to them by their parents. They all live together hoping to one day reclaim their spot in the world. The cave itself contains vegetation suited for many wolves like plants and trees, but it also contains one big lake and some small mountains. The cave itself is extremely large, which gives the wolves space to live with one another. The Ghost Pups have brought living fish inside in order to have their own population of fish in their lake.
6 leaders
As Kane was leading, being the oldest survivor of the Dark Cities, he soon needed more assistance. Not wanting to lead the pack completely on his own, he chose five groups leaders to lead their pack together. Each of them was chosen for reason and they were the wolves he felt most comfortable with. When new ideas are formed, they will all meet together to judge and make a choice depending on all of their opinions.
