Berry BirdBerry Birds are small and gentle creatures in the world of Delv Ihoo. They are one of the only animals that actually don't fear wolves. Due to their size a Berry Bird makes for a rather poor snack for a wolf. As the effort to catch one would be more exhausting than rewarding, the only reason a wolf would hunt one would be out of desperation. Because of this Berry Birds get fairly close to wolves without a worry and are known to even sit on wolves. They do this often for protection as other predatory birds usually won't charge in on a wolf. They are frugivores meaning that their survival depends on fruits and especially berries, because of this they prefer forests over any other location. Youngsters are usually raised among berry bushes in specific blue berry bushes. It is said through time that their pelt become blue due to the berries they consumed. Male Berry Birds especially stand out as they are actually quite territorial and will often engage a fight with other male Berry Birds. Only during breeding seasons do males of this species get along. If they find a partner they are known to be really close with one another, very protective and caring. This has led to other complications were one of them dies the other soon follows out of depression as they do not take in a second partner. Berry Birds tend to sing in the morning and are usually active throughout the day, while at night they take cover and sleep, when together one usually keeps an eye out for danger.
AppearanceBerry Birds stand out, as they are the only species that actually has an animal like pelt on their head reaching till the tip of their tail. Unlike the Wolf Bird who's feathers just resemble fur. Although the majority of their body is covered in feather the blue pelt is not. They can fluff up this pelt to intimidate possible predators or rivals. Both genders features this pelt including a blue beak, legs and blue eyes. The females however have a brown plumage as this is to blend in between the twigs of a berry bush. The males on the other hand have a bright red plumage to stand out rather than to blend in their surrounding.
HabitatBerry Birds can be found almost everywhere except for the snow and desert area. They can be found in most forest and mountain area's, they are seen in open plains too but prefer forests which contain the red or blue berry bushes as they mainly survive on fruits and in specific berries.
